#1 Postby BSA-A65 » Tue Feb 13, 2018 6:03 am

The constant for the ranking will be determined each season at the end of the season...
so what constant will the main event use for the 2018 season?
thanks

It is suppose to change every year based on the number of riders.

This was discussed at the board meeting. I feel sure it will be adjusted due to the population of our riders for 2017.

i just did some looking at the overalls from last year. it averages out pretty close to 112 for the main event.
we had 14 events and the turn out was... 177- 152- 161- 128- 114- 78- 117- 109- 113- 110- 91- 87- 99- 97
for total of 1633 ÷ 14 = 116.64 rounded up lets call it 117

then i dropped three races out... the two events with the highest turnout and the event with the lowest turnout. that left eleven events.
with a total of 1217 ÷ 11 = 110.63 rounded up lets call it 111
thats pretty close to 112.
i would hope the intention of the rule is to lower the multiplier an not raise it. it is already hard anuf to get in to a class from the back rows of the main event.
who ever the old dudes were that came up with 112 in the past have been pretty close more years than not. i got no beef with changing the multiplier if it needs changing change it.but for real the main event is pretty close... thanks old rule making
dudes.

From the 2017 VCHSS Rules "The Main Event constant is 112 and the Morning Event constant is 140, these figures having been derived from recent VCHSS history. This helps to adjust the overall scores for either small or large turnout events."

If the constant is dependent on participation throughout the season; it is in fact a variable. If the VCHSS has seen a trend that warrants a change from a constant value of 112; the authorities need to address the issue before the first race as sandbaggers may need to adjust their strategy.

i just was not clear wheather the intent was to use the the previous end of year average or the 2018 season end of year average.

either way it will be about the same. an in the past few year's the current 112 has been pretty close to the average rider turn out for the main event. i do not have a clue about the c and mini. not my race so i dont pay them much attention.

my bad for asking a question about the rules. its probably best to keep a few of them in the gray till the end of year. :smt028
