Racing Different Classes?

#1 Postby bsiemon » Wed May 18, 2016 2:41 pm

A question for those in the know: I have a son, Kyle Weber (#281), racing in the Jr Mini 2 class this year. He has expressed an interest in maybe trying out a couple of the Mini 9-11 65cc races, but is not sure he wants to make the permanent change yet. Is it possible for him to pick either of those 2 classes at any particular event? For instance, he thinks he might want to race the mini's at Reddy Hole, but not at Hillbilly. In other words, over the next 10 events, he might want to try out anywhere from 2 to 5 of them in the Mini 9-11 65cc class and the remainder in the Jr Mini 2 class. Is that allowed? Thanks for your time.

The below is from the VCHSS Supplemental Rules. These rules can be found under the "Rules" link on the left menu of the home page.

8.2. Maintaining Class Eligibility:

8.2.1. Jr. Mini I and II riders may not enter the Mini 9-11, or Mini 9-11 65cc class on the same day
as participating in a Jr. Mini event. A Jr. Mini rider may enter the Mini 9-11, or Mini 9-11 65cc
class a total of 3 times combined, per season. At the time of the fourth Mini event entry, the rider
will no longer be eligible for the Horizon class.

Thanks Troy for clearing that up for me. He can stick his toes in the deep end 3 times before he has to make the plunge. I guess we better choose wisely. Thanks.

Most parents seem to let their kids try the mini events on the eastern side of the state due to the terrain being a little more friendly. Good luck!!

Get your ten in to qualify for the banquet (or whatever the umber is this year). Then run the last three eastern races in the mini. Once he does it he won't want to go back to horizon. This was our experience.
