Grips?

#1 Postby Willbilly » Mon Sep 05, 2016 12:19 pm

Does anyone have a preference on grips? A couple people have mention the type that lock on to the bars, not allowing the grips to spin. What does that mean?

the problem with the lock-on grips is if that collar breaks say in a crash, they will spin and can't be ridden very easily. just get a glue on grip that you like and a can of 3m spray adhesive, you will be good to go! make sure not to get glue under throttle tube!!

that would have to be a pretty bad crash if you have bark busters! I just slapped on a set of Emig lock on grips made by ODI. Its been too cold to ride but the design looks very good. There are two pinch bolts by the kill switch but the way they are designed it doesn't just clamp right there but has more surface area.

The nice thing is for like $20 you get a new throttle tube as well. mine cam with 3 different CAMS. They are for other bikes(they give you a list) but i don't see why you couldn't try them out and see if one cam works better for you.

People are very picky about their grips. We sell all kinds. Many folks like Pro Taper pillow top grips. I find they rip to easy for me. I prefer to use grips that are a larger diameter than what most are. I use the Pro Grip Rally grips and have for years. I also sell a decent amount of these too.

We put a set of Emig lock on grips made by ODI on Addie's bike about mid season last year, they are holding up well & have not moved at all.

I did get a chance to ride some with mine and they worked very well. I am going to pick up another set that i can cut the ends off so i can swap grips when i run wrap around guards. Last time i had to swap bars, throttle tubes and everything. was a real pain! Definitely done with the glue! I have talked to a bunch of guys that run ODI and haven't heard one say the grips shifted/moved around. I will say the compound is a bit harder than some of the others out there. They feel pretty similar to a kevlar half waffle to me.

Been running the Pillow Tops for years...

We did try the Emig no slip grips and so far so good.
