Ktm 105 throttle sticking at Rattlesnake enduro course???

#1 Postby zbaldridge » Mon Oct 16, 2017 3:44 pm

My daughter Kayli was running the supermini class had the event at the end of her first lap. I thought maybe whiskey throttle, but video shows it maybe not. Has anybody seen something like this on the 105's? Seems like it stuck right before the log jump, and never wavered even after she drops it. Kill switch was needed to shut off. The bike started up fine afterwards and seemed normal. I'm planning on replacing the throttle cable. Thoughts? Link is https://youtu.be/btsSaDjXuzo

Slide stuck? Throttle cable stuck in sheath? Cable fell out of seat in throttle housing?

I’d start by looking at the old cable out of the sheath and see if it’s frayed.

We always safety wire both ends of the throttle cable as it can come out of the seat and you get full throttle.

We had one fray down by the carb & stick, it was an OEM cable. I would suggest the Motion Pro cable if you need a replacement. Glad she was ok.

Thanks for the input. There is some safety wire up at the boot on the handlebar. I wondered why it was there, but make sense now. We are replacing the cable with Motion pro version. Also, the spectator that helped pick up the bike before it blew up, informed that he pulled the clutch lever in and then raised the bike. It kicked around full circle and he needed help before it got away. He was fairly sure the clutch did not disengage as it should. BTW, Thanks to him for helping.... I'm not sure what to think about the clutch, but we are rebuilding the slave and master cylinder now too. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Yes, he definitely pulled the clutch in before he picked it up. We were right beside him. Clutch did not disengage. Glad your daughter is ok.
